Supported by the Global South-South Development Center (Global SSDC) project, a working team, including CICETE staff and several Chinese partner institutions, paid a visit to Fiji and Samoa from July 28 to August 4. The delegation attended the Pacific Islands Development Forum Leaders’ Summit & Conference held in Nadi, Fiji and introduced China's achievements and experience on South-South cooperation under relevant UN projects. In Samoa, the delegation paid return visits to several farmers’ households to inquire about the operation of the biogas digesters installed under the support of the previous phase of the Global SSDC project, and provided on-site maintenance guidance. The delegation also held discussions with relevant government departments, research institutes and business associations of Fiji and Samoa on promoting concrete collaborations between China and south Pacific island countries in the fields of low-cost building materials, comprehensive development of biogas and sustainable agricultural development.
