Research Field

Resource and utilization of anaerobic microorganisms

Qualification Introduction

master degree or above, minimum 15 years of relevant experience at the national and/or international level;

Academic Achievements

Engaged in the study on isolation, identification, preservation, classification and functional evaluation of anaerobic microorganisms. Several new anaerobic microbial families, such as methanogenic archaea, were proposed, and a long-term preservation technology and high-throughput screening platform for anaerobic microorganisms were developed. Establish and responsible for the largest and fourth international anaerobic microbial model species bank —— China Anaerobic microbial Resource Management Center, can provide evidence of the preservation of new anaerobic microorganisms. Study on methane production mechanism of anaerobic degradation of petroleum hydrocarbon. several crude oil bio-gasification bacterial system models were constructed, and the unique biogeochemical characteristics and microbial mechanism of the preferential degradation of long-chain alkyl hydrocarbons were found. community succession, degradation mechanism and environmental stress response mechanism during crude oil bio-gasification were elucidated. Presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other 6 national projects, published more than 30 research papers (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Lei_Cheng7).
