Enjoying the Special Government Allowances of Experts, Prof. Xiaoqing Miao is a Provincial Outstanding Expert, Provincial People’s Outstanding Teacher, Scientist of Bee Industry under Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs, and the founder of Fujian Shenfeng Science and Technology Company Limited.

Prof. Miao was Director of Nation and Local United Engineering Laboratory of Natural Biological Toxins, the Dean of Bee Science College of Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University, Founder and Director of Apitherapy Institute of Fujian Agricultural and Forestry University, and Director of Fujian Apicultural Science Association. Currently he is Director of Fujian Apitherapy Hospital, Vice President of Apicultural Science Association of China (ASAC), Vice President and Director of Apitherapy Department of Chinese Folk Traditional Chinese Medicine Research and Development Association, Director of Fujian Yunsheng Youth Technology Fund, Review Expert of National Health Food, Reviewer of National Natural Science Fund, Reviwer of Changjiang Scholar, and Reviewer of Ten Thousand Talents Project.

In the last 30 years, Prof. Miao has worked on education and industrialization of Bee Science. He has drafted and lectured both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including “Operation of Bee Keeping Instrument”, “Bee Biology”, “Bee Physiology” and “Apitherapy”. Also, he has done extensive research on bee venom and has undertaken more than 10 national and provincial scientific projects, among which two were listed as National High-tech Industrialization Promotion Projects. In addition, he has won 10 National Invention Patents. His Electronics Automatic Bee Venom Collector” was awarded the Second Prize of Fujian Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. In 1996, this invention was awarded the Fourth Prize of National Invention Award. 

Published more than 160 academic papers (including more than 10 SCI papers), filed 12 invention patents, initiated and lectured 6 undergraduate courses and 2 postgraduate and doctoral courses. He also established a new undergraduate program, a specialty program, and a second-level doctoral program in Apiology. He has also held several academic conferences and strengthened the communication between Fujian and Taiwan on bee industry. Examples of the conferences include the First International Apitherapy Summit, the Asian Apitherapy Summit, the Apitherapy Summit for Fujian and Taiwan, and the National Apitherapy Summit.
